AL39 "Schibboleth" : Derrida's Reading of Celan
Derrida’s "Schibboleth“ is not only a profound interpretation of the unique poetry of Paul Celan, but also a meditation on his own Jewishness or even on Juadism itself. Our reading of Derrida's text will also take us into an examination of Celan’s poetological texts, especially "The Meridian," which is, of course, also interpreted by Derrida. A question that will also be raise is how it is possible to read Derrida’s text "for Paul Celan" as a meditation on circumcision, the Covenant "inscribed in the flesh."
